“There is an intense but simple thrill in setting off in the morning on a mountain trail, knowing that everything you need is on your back. It is a confidence in having left the inessentials behind and of entering a world of natural beauty that has not been violated, where money has no value, and possessions are a dead weight. The person with the fewest possessions is the freest. Thoreau was right.” –PAUL THEROUXThe Happy Isles of Oceania: Paddling the Pacific, 1992

Hiking is a passion I acquired after a significant hike shortly after my 30th birthday. My experience with nature has at some times been spiritual! I share the stories of past, present and future hikes in the hills around my Tennessee home to inspire you and yours to not only get out and enjoy Mother Nature and all her splendor, but to fight with your every being to protect her!
